Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist
Location: Valoria Haven Medical Center
Department: Laboratory Services
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Laboratory Manager / Director of Clinical Services
Position Summary:
Valoria Haven Medical Center is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technologist to join our Laboratory Services team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases by performing a wide variety of laboratory tests on patient specimens. This individual must maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and confidentiality while contributing to a patient-centered care environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex laboratory tests in clinical areas including hematology, microbiology, immunology, clinical chemistry, and transfusion services.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain sophisticated laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Analyze, interpret, and report test results to assist physicians in patient diagnosis and care.
- Ensure quality control and quality assurance procedures are followed and documented.
- Collect and process biological specimens in compliance with safety and infection control protocols.
- Participate in proficiency testing, competency assessments, and continuing education.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and collaborate with peers and supervisors to resolve problems.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all procedures and results.
- Support the training of new staff and laboratory interns when required.
- Comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards (e.g., CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA).
Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification by ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) or equivalent preferred.
- Licensure (if required by state or local regulation).
Experience:
- Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
- Recent graduates with strong clinical training will be considered.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Proficiency in laboratory instrumentation and diagnostic software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safety.
Working Conditions:
- Rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Exposure to biohazardous materials and infectious diseases with appropriate protective measures in place.
- Standing for extended periods and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.
