Medical Laboratory Technologist (MedTech)

Medical Laboratory Technologists (MedTechs) perform complex tests on blood, tissue, and body fluids to help diagnose diseases, monitor treatments, and support patient care. They play a vital role in Canada’s healthcare system.

🩺 Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests such as blood analysis, urinalysis, microbiology, and immunology
• Operate and maintain complex lab equipment
• Record, analyze, and interpret test results
• Ensure quality control and accuracy of test procedures
• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare teams
• Follow infection control and safety procedures

📚 Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field
• Certification by the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) (required for most provinces)
• Language proficiency in English or French (IELTS or CELPIP may be required for immigration)
• Previous clinical lab experience (typically 1–2 years preferred)
• Willingness to register with the provincial regulatory body (e.g., CMLTO in Ontario)

💰 Salary Range

• CAD $60,000 – $85,000/year (varies by province and experience)
