The role
A generalist working directly with leadership: market, competitor and regulatory research; filings and written analysis; evaluating and running new projects and partnerships. The JD is unusually direct about the pace: in the office six to seven days a week, with a high bar and fast cuts.
The brief
What this hire has to fix
Corgi has raised four rounds this year and is launching new lines of insurance. The bottleneck is the work between functions: state regulatory filings, market and competitor research, partnership diligence, new-initiative launches. This seat takes that work off the founders’ desks and returns it as structured recommendations and finished documents.
Has done it before
One to three years in strategy consulting, banking, or insurance and actuarial work. Someone who has written client-ready analysis on deadline while running several workstreams at once. Insurance or regulatory exposure is a bonus, not a requirement.
Would make you say no
Needs a defined lane before they can start. Writing that needs heavy editing. Hasn’t made peace with a six-to-seven-day, in-office week. The JD says it plainly, so screen for it on the first call.
The team today
Corgi grew from 97 to 354 people in twelve months. Most of the company arrived this year, so the team this person joins is still forming.

The strategic projects bench
Eleven people already carry a strategic projects title, across London, the US and Singapore. Ten of them joined in 2026. Most came through consulting (MBB, boutique strategy firms, Big 4 advisory); the rest from banking, startups, or straight out of school. The pedigree bar is lower than the title suggests. The writing bar isn’t.
Where the market is
Every AI-native insurer hires some version of this person. Two years in, Corgi’s operations, strategy and finance bench is already about the size of the cyber insurers founded in 2016–17.
Profiles = current employees with a public professional profile, which undercounts total headcount (Corgi reports 354). Seats = profiles classified as operations, consulting or finance.
The field
Where this person sits today, sized from public profiles. Junior means analyst- and associate-level titles, not years of experience. Vendor experience fields are too unreliable to publish.

- Junior strategy consultants · Chicago490Analyst and associate titles at McKinsey, BCG, Bain, Kearney, Oliver Wyman and L.E.K. (407 at the first three). The deepest and most-recruited pool. The in-office week is the hard sell.
- Junior bankers · Chicago264Analysts and associates at William Blair, Houlihan Lokey, Lincoln International and Baird.Used to the hours. Test the writing and the tolerance for ambiguity.
- Actuarial analysts and associates · Chicago412Carrier, broker and consulting actuaries across the metro. The regulatory and rate-filing muscle. A stretch on the generalist scope.
- Corporate strategy and corp dev · Illinois126In-house strategy and corporate development titles. The big Chicago insurers and brokers hold almost none (3).Thin. Worth a sweep, not a lane.
- London (the second seat)593One-hop operators out of consulting and banking, plus 422 junior consultants at the same six firms. The London seat has the deeper bench, at a lower band.
Our read
Start with the one-hop operators in Chicago. They have already traded a big firm for a small one, so the pace in the JD is a feature, not a surprise, and they still write like consultants.
Run junior consultants second. It is the deepest pool and the one every AI company is fishing in, so the pitch has to be the scope, not the hours.
Use actuarial analysts as a targeted lane for the regulatory half of the job, and fill the London seat from its own, larger bench rather than relocating from Chicago.
Method
- Company and people data from Crustdata’s index of public professional profiles and company records, pulled 27 September 2026.
- Lanes are defined by current employer, current title and location. Counts are approximate and overlap slightly where one person matches two lanes.
- Illustrative market map built from a public job posting. Not a client search, and no individual is named.
